
Our Mission
St. Thomas Episcopal Church is a community of caring and service-oriented individuals. The Outreach Committee exists to extend this community beyond St. Thomas Church with attention focused within Pamlico County. The Outreach Committee’s vision is to offer the St. Thomas community opportunities to realize joyful giving experiences while providing responsible stewardship of church resources.

Planned Giving
St. Thomas is known for its generous outreach activities. The following are short descriptions of organizations we are supporting in 2025. Pamlico County needs our help and there are no shortages of opportunities to support. Please join us and get involved! We each bring particular gifts and provide unique contributions to Outreach at St. Thomas.
• Children’s Theater Workshop
A 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose goal is to make a high-quality drama learning environment available to every child in Pamlico County of appropriate age as a summer program that will enrich their lives. As a creative outlet, they share the work of students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, increasing their ability to master theater skills and characterization techniques.
• Coastal Center for Hope & Healing (Formerly Coastal Women’s Shelter)
The sole provider of comprehensive domestic and sexual violence services at no cost to survivors in Craven, Jones, and Pamlico counties. Their range of services includes but is not limited to court advocacy, transportation assistance, tuition assistance, clothing, food, housing assistance and referrals, support groups for adult and youth survivors, employment counseling, a 24/7/365 crisis hotline, and inter-agency information and referrals.
• Episcopal Relief & Development
The compassionate response of the Episcopal Church to human suffering in the world. Hearing God’s call to seek and serve Christ in all persons and to respect the dignity of every human being, Episcopal Relief & Development serves to bring together the generosity of Episcopalians and others with the needs of the world. Episcopal Relief & Development faithfully administers the funds they receive from the church and raise from other sources. They provide relief in times of disaster and promote sustainable development by identifying and addressing the root causes of suffering.
• Episcopal Farmworker Ministry
A joint project of the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina and the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina, based in Dunn, NC. They work with agricultural workers and immigrant families in Eastern rural NC. Their ministry coordinates direct services, leadership programs, community education programs, and advocacy in support of the community. They work with farm workers and their families to create a better world for the future generations.
• Girls On the Run
A non-profit organization dedicated to helping girls in grades 3 through 5 learn to make healthy choices now and during the challenging years of adolescence. Their afterschool programs offer a positive, nurturing experience that encourages hopes and dreams and big ideas. They follow a research-based curriculum that combines training for a 5K Fun Run with health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships, and physical training.
• Habitat For Humanity/Pamlico
The 1,680th independent US affiliate of Habitat for Humanity for Humanity, International. They are a state-chartered, non-profit, Christian, low-income homebuilder and mortgage lender. Their missions are to build safe, decent and affordable housing with Pamlico’s people in need, and to make decent, affordable housing a matter of local public social consciousness.
• HeartWorks
A 501(c)3 nonprofit community service agency in Bayboro, North Carolina whose mission is to address the underserved mental and physical health needs of youth and their families in Pamlico County and surrounding areas. Education and positive mental health are the cornerstones of their efforts. Nurturing is their method.
• Hope Clinic
A private, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that relies on community and volunteer support to achieve its mission of providing free medical care to those in need in Pamlico County and surrounding communities.
• Hospice of Pamlico County
A nonprofit 501(c)3 provider of end-of-life care and support services for patients, their families and caregivers. Patients of any age who are facing a life-limiting illness may qualify for specialized medical, emotional and spiritual care through their services. Their Hospice team will come to you, wherever you call home. Under the direction of a primary physician, our team develops a comprehensive plan to best provide comfort and emotional support to patients and their families.
• Interfaith Refugee Ministry
A ministry dedicated to helping refugees rebuild their lives in eastern North Carolina. Their task is to assist refugees with necessities when they first arrive in New Bern and surrounding areas. This includes, but is not limited to, assistance with housing, food, clothing, employment, learning English, and cultural orientation. The ultimate goal is to help refugees become self-reliant, emotionally secure and culturally adjusted in their new home.
• PAWS
A 501(c)3 non-profit organization striving to provide a better life for local animals. While their primary mission is to assist with the cost of spaying and neutering to help reduce the number of animals euthanized in shelters, they are also dedicated to “Helping the Helpless.”
• Pamlico Fund for the Aged, Inc.
A non-profit foundation which raises funds to help local elderly people in need. When money budgeted by the County has been depleted, PCFA steps in to fund the delivery of nutritional midday meals, or the building of exterior home ramps. It also supplies electric fans in summer and other such needs for the health and well-being of senior citizens throughout the year.
• Pamlico County Fishes and Loaves Outreach (PCFLO)
A not-for-profit organization (501(c)3) operating a referral-only pantry servicing the ongoing food needs as well as emergency food needs of Pamlico County.
• Pamlico Partnership for Children
A public-private collaboration, one of 75 non-profit partnerships that make up the Smart Start Network in all of the 100 North Carolina counties. They provide programs and services for the youngest citizens of Pamlico County, support the providers of high-quality childcare, serve as a community resource, and are a supporter of a growing effort to provide assistance to the families and children living in our community.
• Prime Time
A mission of the Oriental United Methodist Church (OUMC) that operates under the church’s 501(c)3 status. Their vision is to offer unique programs and care for the aging; not only to OUMC members, but to residents of Oriental and the surrounding communities as well. The program has grown and expanded with the steadfast focus of helping those over 50 remain connected, engaged, active, healthy and as independently functioning as possible.
• Youth Navigating Toward Opportunity (YNTO)
A 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that directly affects the youth ages 9-17 in Pamlico County and surrounding areas. They provide a safe environment where learning is supported and talent is nurtured, leading towards a productive individual and community member. Their overall goal is to reach as many youth as possible and positively affect their lives.
